Former Arsenal Player Thomas Partey Granted Bail in High-Profile Rape Case
Thomas Partey, the former Arsenal midfielder, has been released on bail after appearing in court on serious charges.
The 32-year-old faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, with the alleged incidents involving three women between 2021 and 2022.
The court has set strict bail conditions for Partey.
He must avoid any contact with the women involved and must inform the police if he changes his address or plans to travel overseas.
Since his contract with Arsenal ended in June, Partey is currently without a club but is reportedly close to signing with Villarreal in Spain.
The court was told he is now playing outside the UK.
During the hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court, Partey appeared composed, dressed in a dark zip-up sweater and carrying a jacket.
He stood quietly in the dock with his hands behind his back.
His lawyer has stated that Partey denies all the allegations and is eager to prove his innocence.
The police began investigating after receiving a rape complaint in February 2022, and charges were formally made on July 4, shortly after his Arsenal deal expired.
Partey’s trial is scheduled to take place at the Old Bailey on September 2.
