Gloria Bugie Calls on Women to Open Their Wallets This Valentine’s
The call to “spoil the boy child” this Valentine’s Day is growing louder by the day.
It started with NBS news anchor Irene Nalumu questioning why men are often expected to spend while women simply receive.
Media personality Sheilah Gashumba soon echoed the same sentiment.
Now Ugandan singer Gloria Bugie has joined the conversation.
Taking to X, the “Nyash” hitmaker directly challenged the long standing Valentine’s narrative, asking whether the day of love is only about men opening their wallets while women wait for flowers and surprises.

While some applauded her for advocating fairness and balance in relationships, others pushed back, insisting that Valentine’s traditions are already clear.
With February 14 fast approaching, the pressure is on.
Will lovers rethink how they celebrate, or will the usual script play out once again?
