Legendary Ugandan singer Grace Nakimera has spoken out about the current state of Ugandan music, sharing her honest reflections on how the industry has evolved over the years.

Grace, who rose to fame with timeless hits like “Kawonawo” and “Kiva Kuki,” believes that today’s music scene has gradually lost some of the depth and emotion that defined her era.

In her opinion, many of today’s musicians appear to place more emphasis on promoting sex appeal than on crafting songs with meaningful lyrical content.

While she acknowledges that trends and visuals are important, Grace emphasized that they should not overshadow the power of message and emotion in music.

As a way forward, she encouraged musicians to create music that inspires, uplifts, and stands the test of time rather than simply producing songs aimed at partying.
