Gravity Omutujju Urges Katikkiro Mayiga to Focus on Uganda’s Pressing Issues, Not His Music
Rapper Gravity Omutujju has responded to recent criticism from Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, over allegations of vulgarity in his music.
The Katikkiro had reportedly directed Buganda Kingdom media outlets, including BBS and CBS, to stop playing the singer’s songs, citing a lack of decency.

In a video posted on his official social media channels, Gravity dismissed the accusations, maintaining that his music is neither vulgar nor offensive.
He explained that he creates art intended to entertain and emphasized that he has never, and will never, include vulgar language in his songs.
Gravity claimed that whoever reported otherwise to Mayiga misrepresented the facts and misled the cultural leader.
He also noted that his music has never been played on the aforementioned media outlets since the beginning of his career in 2011, questioning why the Katikkiro would issue a directive about something that has never occurred. He suggested that the move was uninformed.
In his response, Gravity urged Mayiga to focus on addressing more pressing issues affecting Buganda and Uganda, such as land grabbing, violence, and other injustices.
He argued that these challenges deserve more attention than his music, which he considers a harmless form of entertainment.
Gravity also clarified that the title of the song in question is an abbreviation and does not carry any vulgar meaning.
He invited Mayiga to explain the word’s meaning to him for clarity rather than passing judgment and criticism.
