Green Daddy Criticizes Event Organizers for Blocking Rising Stars from Stage Opportunities

Singer Green Daddy has voiced his frustration over what he sees as a growing trend in Uganda’s music industry: the exclusion of emerging artistes from major concerts.

His comments came after the recent B2C 10-year anniversary concert, where he, along with several other support acts, was denied the chance to perform.

In a deeper reflection, Green Daddy pointed to the event organizers, suggesting their actions were part of a larger, deliberate pattern.

“They are definitely cooking something. It is not obvious, but when you look at how things are unfolding, it’s clear there’s a plan behind it,” he said.

To further emphasize his point, he referenced past concerts by artists like Fik Fameica and Spice Diana, claiming similar exclusions of emerging talent occurred at those events as well.

“What the producer of the B2C concert did is the same thing the producer of Fik Fameica’s show did, and also what the producer of Spice Diana’s show did,” he stated.

Green Daddy also questioned the motivations of established artists who now hold power in the decision-making process for these events.

He reminded them that, just like the younger artistes they now exclude, they too once relied on similar opportunities to build their careers.

“Many artistes, including myself, have grown by performing on other people’s concert stages. Spice Diana, Fik Fameica, and B2C are also great examples,” he said.

Green Daddy concluded by expressing his disappointment with artistes who once benefited from performing at other people’s concerts, but now support decisions that deny today’s rising musicians the same opportunities.
