Halima Namakula Reveals What She Will Never Forget About Radio

As fans and the music industry mark Mowzey Radio Week, veteran singer Halimah Namakula has shared her memories of the late music star.

The week, observed around his January 25 birthday and the anniversary of his passing on February 1, 2018, celebrates the life and legacy of the fallen Ugandan icon.

Speaking to Daily Soup, Namakula said the first thing that comes to mind when she thinks about Radio is his stubbornness.

What I remember most about him was his stubbornness. I would be over there and he would call me ‘Mama Halima,’ and I would really feel it because he called at the top of his voice.

She also spoke about his connection to her family, revealing that Radio once recorded a song with her daughter, Rachel K, in what she believes was his first collaboration with a female artiste.

The other thing I remember about him is the fact that he did a song with Rachel K. I think that was his first collaboration with a female artiste.

Radio, one half of the Goodlyfe Crew, remains one of Uganda’s most celebrated songwriters and vocalists.
