Hilda Baci Cooks World’s Biggest Pot of Jollof in Lagos
Nigeria’s food star Hilda Baci has done it again. This time she shocked Lagos with an attempt at the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The event took place at Eko Hotels and Suites over the weekend. Hilda worked with a giant pot that was 6 metres wide and could hold more than 22,619 litres of food. She used about 200 bags of basmati rice, a little less than she had planned, because of weighing limits.
The cooking lasted close to 9 hours. Thousands of plates of jollof were served to the crowd. The mood was lively, like a food festival, with music and cheering fans. Government officials and food lovers praised Hilda for her courage and energy.
At one point the giant pot caved in slightly during the weighing, but Hilda kept going and finished strong.
The Guinness World Records team has not yet confirmed the result. If they approve, Hilda will officially hold the title for the largest pot of jollof rice. This will add to her record from 2023 when she became famous for the longest cooking marathon.
While Africa waits for the final word, one thing is clear. Hilda Baci is not slowing down in her mission to show the world the power of African food.
