Holding It All Together: Bose Ogulu on Life as Burna Boy’s Mom and Manager

Behind every superstar is someone holding it all together, and for Burna Boy, that someone is his mother, Bose Ogulu.

On top of being his mom, she is also his manager, and now she is opening up about how she juggles both roles without letting either fall apart.

In a recent interview, Ogulu got real about the emotional minefield of managing family while steering one of Africa’s biggest musical exports.

Working so closely with her son is not always smooth sailing, and she admits that things can get tense when personal feelings clash with business decisions.

But she has learned to draw clear boundaries to keep everything running smoothly.

And it is not just about Burna Boy anymore. Ogulu revealed that her world has grown far beyond her own children.

These days, she calls herself “mom” to a crew of about 40 young creatives who travel with the team on tour, proving that her role is as much about mentorship as it is about management.

The road to global fame did not come easy either.

Ogulu shared that she once bankrolled Burna’s early music, handled contracts, and did the behind-the-scenes grind when there was no money to pay her.

She was the admin, the tour guide, the translator, even in France, where her knowledge of the language turned family trips into unexpected musical education moments.

Despite the chaos of tour life and the business hustle, Ogulu insists that switching between mom mode and manager mode comes naturally now.
