Hon. Lutamaguzi Clarifies Status of UGX 33 Billion Creative Industry Allocation

Hon. Lutamaguzi Ssemakula, MP for Nakaseke County and member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, has addressed the government’s UGX 33 billion allocation to the creative industry, which has sparked conflict between artistes and promoters.

In an exclusive interview with Sanyuka Uncut, Lutamaguzi clarified that the funds have not yet been officially released.

He also challenged the idea that artistes and promoters should receive special treatment over other Ugandans.

If there is any money being planned, it is only an attempt by the government to silence them.

Expressing deep disappointment, Lutamaguzi described it as shameful that musicians and promoters, who once built their careers independently, are now seeking handouts.

Running to Gulu to meet Gen. Salim Saleh and enduring the humiliation they received there was totally deserved. They forgot their roots.

He urged both artistes and promoters to return to their foundations, focus on their craft, and work toward regaining their independence and respect in the industry.
