Hon. Magoola Stresses Unity as Arts Industry Gets Shs 66 Billion Government Boost

The Ugandan government has set aside 66 billion shillings to support the art industry, a move aimed at boosting the sector that plays a vital role in the country’s culture and economy.

However, Hon. Rachael Magoola, the Woman Member of Parliament for Bugweri, says the sector still faces major hurdles.

In an exclusive interview, Hon. Magoola revealed that despite the generous funding, the arts industry lacks proper structures to manage and allocate the money effectively.

As artistes, we need our own ministry. Right now, whoever makes the most noise ends up getting the money.

Hon. Magoola also addressed ongoing misunderstandings between musicians and promoters, which have created tensions within the industry.

She emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation as a way forward.

Everyone in the industry needs each other. They should resolve their differences and work together.
