Hon. Namugga Goretti Questions Stecia Mayanja’s Political Readiness

By Arthur Bogere Kazibwe

Mawogola Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Namugga Goretti, has spoken out following the official launch of the National Peasants Party offices, led by newly elected party president, musician Hajjat Stecia Mayanja.

While congratulating Stecia upon assuming the party presidency and opening the party offices, Honorable Namugga cautioned her that leadership is not something one jumps into overnight.

Being a party president is not something that just comes from nowhere. It is a process that requires planning, structure, and understanding.

She further expressed concern that Hajjat Stecia may not be ready for such a big political responsibility and warned that this move could backfire.

What shame will it be if she ends up losing even the name and respect she has recently earned from the public?

On the issue of UGX 33 billion recently allocated by the government to artists, Hon. Namugga noted that while the funding is a positive step, she believes the process is flawed.

It is good that the government is supporting artistes, but honestly, they are being cheated. There should have been clear and fair procedures for accessing the funds instead of just feeding them crumbs.
