How Aine Rose as a Self-Made Photographer in Uganda’s Changing Creative Scene
By Ndamagye Isaac
On Next Radio’s The Brunch show with Viana Indi, Ugandan photographer Aine, founder of Peak Shots Studios, shared how he built a career behind the lens through grit, self-teaching, and vision.
Aine’s journey began eight years ago, fresh out of university.
Faced with a stable job opportunity, he made an unexpected choice to pursue photography full time.
“I just did not want to be afraid of anyone,” he told Viana, reflecting on his decision to chase creative freedom.
With a loan from his father, Aine bought his first camera and took a leap of faith.
His first event did not go as planned. Of over 850 photos, only 30 were usable.
“If I had a chance, I would shoot for them again for free,” he admitted.
Yet those early mistakes shaped his learning curve.
Today, Aine runs one of Kampala’s respected studios, grounded in storytelling and creativity.
“Photography now is beyond pictures, it is content. The world is moving fast. If you are getting into this, it cannot be a side hustle. You have to be all in,” he advised.
More than a business, Aine has built a loyal client base and community of creatives.
His story proves that Uganda’s creative economy has space for self-starters who commit fully to the craft.
