Ugandan vocalist Goesteady has managed to create music that stands the test of time, even as many of his counterparts struggle to keep their songs popular.
When a fan recently asked him how he achieves this, he shared his thoughts about his audience, faith, and creative process.
I think, first of all, it is about who you want to serve as an artiste. What kind of audience do you want to reach? I like serving an audience that grows with me. Most of the fans I have today have been with me from day one, and they continue to grow with me while also drawing others to my music. Another thing I would say, which I do not even have control over, is the fact that Allah decides. If He wills something to happen a certain way, that is how it will be. So when it comes to me, it is Allah who decides. I also sing songs sometimes without knowing if they will stand the test of time, but to my surprise, they do. In most cases, I return the glory to the Almighty. Allah knows best.
