How Ugandan Artistes Can Attract Global Record Labels, According to Zulitums

Ugandan singer Zulitums has weighed in on one of the hottest debates in the music scene: should local artistes chase international record deals or stick to being independent?

Speaking to NBS After 5, he said there is no one-size-fits-all path to success.

It works both ways. There are people who are meant to shine through record labels because that is probably where their path is. But you only have to be there to find out. You have to try.

On the common belief that signing with a top label is expensive and requires heavy investment, Zulitums says it is not always true.

According to him, some artistes catch the attention of major labels without having to spend heavily.

There are those who did not have to put in much for record labels to get them. What conversation do we have for those? You just have to keep trying because, in the end, it comes down to that. You have to keep working and working.

Whether an artiste stays independent or signs with a label, Zulitums believes success comes from hard work, persistence, and never giving up.
