How Viboyo’s “Mr. DJ” Verse Got Him His First Car

A single verse on the classic song “Mr. DJ” earned Viboyo Oweyo his first car.

The LugaFlow rapper, whose real name is Moses Nsubuga, revealed that someone who heard his verse on the track rewarded him with Shs15 million.

Speaking on Next Radio, he explained that the money was not from a performance or concert booking.

Instead, the listener had simply appreciated the verse and chose to give him the money to buy a car.

Viboyo added that the generous fan was a complete stranger.

Looking back, he described the experience as magical and said he sometimes wonders whether people who show such generosity still exist today.

I got my first car just from the Mr. DJ verse. It was not even from a show or anything. Someone just heard my verse and said, “Viboyo, you deserve something,” and gave me 15 million to buy a car. I did not even know them. I had never met them. So you can imagine how magical that was. I do not know where people like that are these days. I do not know if people like that still exist.

Released in 2009, “Mr. DJ” remains one of Uganda’s most memorable all star collaborations.

The track was headlined by the legendary duo Radio & Weasel and produced by Benon Mugumbya at Swangz Avenue.
