I Earned The NUP Card on Merit, Not Friendship — Nina Roz
Nina Kankunda, also known as Nina Roz, has hit back at rumors suggesting she received the National Unity Platform (NUP) card for Sembabule Woman MP because of her friendship with party president Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
Speaking to Tawfiq Media, the songstress-turned-politician dismissed the claims as baseless and insisted that she earned the card on merit.
The whole of Uganda loves me, so the card was well deserved. I am also thankful that he trusted me. Just because he likes me does not mean I automatically get a card. He based his decision on my deeds, on my work on the ground, and on completing all the procedures that everyone else goes through.
She added that the nod came because of what she represents and what the people desire.
Do not assume it was because of personal liking. The flag he gave me represents hope and responsibility for the people. I believe he looked beyond personal liking and saw the truth, which is what I stand for and what the people want.
For the “Billboard Kipande” star, getting the NUP card is a clear sign that Sembabule has spoken.
