I Leave the Moment a Man Starts Struggling, Black Shuga Confesses

Ugandan media personality Black Shuga has shaken conversations about relationships after openly dismissing the idea of “building with your man.”

In a interview with Sanyuka She Talk, Black Shuga made it clear she has no patience for a man who struggles financially and will not wait for him to “get his act together.”

I do not build with a man. I am not patient with a poor man. I do not support a man. Never expect me to be a supportive partner. The moment a man starts having problems, I leave.

She went further to challenge traditional marriage vows, saying they are part of why she remains unmarried.

That is why I failed to get married. I do not want to lie to someone that I will be around in health and in sickness, because in sickness I will not be around. In poverty I will not be around. In death I will not be around. If my partner dies, do not expect me to mourn for long, nope.

Black Shuga’s blunt remarks have left many divided between admiration for her honesty and criticism of her stance on commitment.

Whether people agree or disagree, her openness is prompting reflection on what true partnership means for today’s generation.
