“I Respect Him, But I Do Not Fear Him” — Fik Fameica on Concert Date Overlap with Chameleone
Fik Fameica has made it clear that he is not worried about veteran singer Jose Chameleone scheduling a concert on the same date as his.
The “Buligita” hit-maker announced his show more than six months ago, set for September 5 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
At the time, it seemed he had the date all to himself.
However, it later emerged that Jose Chameleone would also be holding a concert on the exact same day at Kololo Independence Grounds.
The overlap quickly sparked talk of possible competition between the two stars.
Although recent developments have cast doubt on whether Chameleone’s show will actually happen, Fik insists that even if it does, he has no reason to fear the music icon.
There is a difference between fear and respect. I respect Chameleone, but I do not fear him. I do not have that fear that he can come and organize a concert on the same date as mine and cause me to cancel mine.
He emphasized that both he and Chameleone have their own loyal fan bases, suggesting there is room for both shows to go on.
He has his fans, and I also have my fans. Everyone has a reason for organizing a concert. I respect him musically. He is a legend. He is a great musician, but I do not fear him because I am also a great musician.
For anyone who might interpret his comments as a sign of rivalry or hidden tension, Fameica was quick to broaden his scope.
I am so dope that there is no musician I fear. I do not fear any musician. I just give them respect.
He added that his confidence is not about arrogance, but about the journey he has taken and the progress he has made.
I have gotten somewhere. I have reached a certain level. I have built something.
