I Started My Music Career in Central Uganda, Lady Mariam ‘Tindatine’ Clarifies

Lady Mariam, one of Western Uganda’s top singers from the early 2000s, has come out to clarify a common belief about her music journey.

Many people have always thought she started her career in Mbarara, but that is not true.

The singer, whose real name is Mariam Namukasa, became famous for her 2004 hit song “Tindatine.”

Although she was born in Ruhama, Ntungamo District, she says her music journey began in Central Uganda.

“I started my music career in Central region. I wrote and recorded Tindatine right here,” she told Sanyuka TV.

Lady Mariam concluded by saying that while many people assume every Western musician begins their journey in Mbarara or is based there, that is just a misconception.
