I Will Contest Any Position My Party Assigns – Walukaga
Singer-turned-politician Mathias Walukaga has opened up about his political ambitions as Uganda prepares for the upcoming 2026 general elections.
In an interview with Sanyuka TV, Walukaga expressed his openness to contesting for any position within the political arena, whether as Member of Parliament, Chairman LC5 for Wakiso, or even returning as the Town Council Mayor.
He believes that he has the qualifications necessary for any of these roles but emphasized that his decision will depend on the direction his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), chooses for him.
“What matters most is the decision of my party leaders. Whatever position they ask me to run for, I will. I have the qualifications and capability to handle any of these roles,” Walukaga stated.
As the current Kyengera Town Council Mayor, Walukaga has worked diligently to deliver positive change for his constituents.
One of his proudest achievements is the installation of streetlights in dark and dangerous spots, which has helped improve security in the area and reduce crime.
Looking ahead, Walukaga is eager to face new challenges in Uganda’s political landscape.
He is confident that his experience and qualifications will guide him, no matter which path his party leads him down.
