If I Were a Nobody, No One Would Talk About Me – Hellen Lukoma’s Response to Criticism
Hellen Lukoma, the multi-talented Ugandan entertainer, recently opened up about the challenges she faces in her career during an interview on Sanyuka Bigenda Bitya.
Despite her success, Hellen revealed that she encounters negative comments daily, with some questioning her abilities as a singer, actress, and dancer.
“People say I cannot sing, I cannot act, and I cannot dance,” she remarked.
However, instead of letting these discouraging words define her, Hellen chooses to focus on those who believe in her and offer encouragement.
“I hold on to those that believe in me,” she stated.
Hellen believes that her visibility in the industry is what draws attention.
“The fact that I am somebody is why people talk about me. If I were a nobody, no one would talk about me,” she explained.
This belief in her own worth fuels her determination to succeed in her endeavours.
Drawing from her personal experiences, Hellen expressed a desire to inspire others who may be facing similar challenges.
“People out there are discouraged in many ways. I want to be the example they look at and believe that even if they are discouraged, they can still achieve great things,” she said.
When asked to choose her strongest talent among singing, dancing, and acting, Hellen compared the dilemma to choosing a favourite child.
“It is hard to choose. They all define who I am,” she stressed, emphasizing that she engages in all three talents and allows her audience to decide which one they appreciate the most.
