“If You Agreed to the Terms, Do Not Complain,” Moses Matovu Tells Local Artistes About Coffee Marathon Concert
Legendary singer Moses Matovu, a founding member of Afrigo Band, has shared his thoughts on the concerns raised by some local artistes following the recent Coffee Marathon and Concert held in Ntungamo.
The controversy arose after Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz received top billing at the event, leading to complaints from local performers who felt sidelined.
Matovu stated that while everyone is entitled to their opinion, the event organizers had the right to make their own choices.
“That could have been the arrangement by the organizers of the event. They have the right to do whatever they want and to decide how to run their event,” he said.
He also expressed doubt that local artistes were forced to perform or that they accepted to perform without understanding the terms of their payment.
“If they agreed to perform for the amount they were paid, then it is not right to complain now or say whatever they are saying,” he said.
Matovu emphasized that the only legitimate concern would be if local artistes were not paid at all, or if Diamond was paid while they were not.
However, he added that the amount paid to Diamond, whether large or small, should not be questioned, as it was based on an agreement between him and the event organizers.
Matovu encouraged local artistes to shift their focus towards understanding why Diamond has reached such heights of success and to work towards achieving similar success, rather than complaining about his worth.
