I’ll Become A Mother When I’m Ready – Sheilah Gashumba
Media personality Sheilah Gashumba recently took to her X account to share her thoughts on the importance of appreciating parents and taking responsibility when it comes to parenthood.
In her post, Gashumba stressed that by the age of 21, if your parents have supported your education and empowered you, or if you are already working and earning your own money, you should start giving back to them.
In her words, Gashumba said, “You shouldn’t ask your parents for anything but rather spoil them. I believe when kids are born, responsible parents work so hard and make many sacrifices, so there should come a time when parents can enjoy treats, money, and everything from their kids.”
Gashumba encouraged her followers to go the extra mile for their parents by planning special experiences for them. She suggested booking them a flight, sending flowers, planning a staycation, or buying tickets for their favorite concerts.
According to her, it is about ensuring parents enjoy life after all the sacrifices they have made.
When a fan commented asking her when she plans to become a parent, Gashumba responded honestly, saying that she is not ready yet.
She explained that she wants to be a responsible mother when the time comes and does not want to rush into it just to fulfil societal expectations. She highlighted the difference between simply giving birth and truly being a mother.
In her words: “When I’m ready! I’m not ready now, and I don’t think I will be ready soon. I want to be a responsible mother when I decide to, not just someone who has given birth.”
Gashumba’s message is clear: be grateful to your parents and show them appreciation when you can, and do not feel pressured to take on parenting until you are truly ready.
When I’m ready! I’m not ready now and I don’t think I will be ready soon! I want to be a responsible mother when I decide to, not just someone who has ‘given birth’ it’s one thing to give birth and it’s another thing to be a MOTHER! https://t.co/qQOKnSngAh
