In Pain and Without a Hospital Bed, Mama D Struggles After Giving Birth to Twins

Ugandan celebrity chef Nalongo Mama D is currently stranded at Mulago National Referral Hospital after staff allegedly refused to admit her unless she pays UGX 250,000 per day for a bed.

Mama D, who recently gave birth to twins via emergency Caesarean section, was transferred from TMR Hospital Naalya due to skyrocketing medical bills.

Now at Mulago, she says the situation is no better.

“I am now just wandering around the hospital looking for a place to sit or rest so I can express milk, although I am also in pain,” journalist Daniel Lutaaya reports she said.

“We left TMR because of bills, and now Mulago is also asking for more money. This is a government hospital, which I thought would be free of charge.”

Her newborns have been placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, yet doctors have refused to admit her as she battles physical pain and emotional exhaustion.

The situation has sparked public concern, with many questioning the state of Uganda’s public health system and calling for immediate intervention to support the popular chef during this difficult time.
