Is Cindy Afraid of Cricket Oval? Here’s Why She Picked Millennium Park For 2025 Concert
On March 7, 2020, singer Cindy Sanyu made history with her “Boom Party Concert” at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The show was a major success, and with it, she became the first female Ugandan artiste to headline a concert at that iconic venue.
To this day, it remains one of the most successful concerts ever held there.
Now, in 2025, the self-styled King Herself is preparing for another major concert, but this time she is switching things up.
Instead of the Lugogo Cricket Oval that cemented her status in the music industry, the upcoming event will be held at Millennium Park, Lugogo.
With that, some critics have begun claiming that she is avoiding Lugogo Cricket Oval because she fears she can no longer fill it.
However, Cindy is not letting the chatter go unchecked.
In a recent media interview, she pointed out the similarities between the two venues.
If you Google both venues, you will realize that they have exactly the same capacity. I am not afraid because they are literally the same in terms of size.
She went on to explain why she believes Millennium Park is a better fit for the concert on August 29.
Millennium Park is more organized in the way it was built. Cricket Oval was built for sports. Millennium Park was built for shows. Everything is clearly demarcated at Millennium Park, and that is why I chose it.
Cindy further emphasized that Millennium Park is a strategic choice from a business perspective.
It is cheaper, safer, and easier to control in terms of gate collections, unlike Lugogo Cricket Oval, which is harder to manage because it has about six gates. And Cricket Oval is also a more expensive venue to book, not because it is better than Millennium Park, but simply because it has been around longer and people are more familiar with it.
