IShowSpeed Earns Praise From Sarkodie After Ghana Tour Stop
When IShowSpeed arrived in Ghana, the internet arrived with him.
With over 50 million YouTube subscribers watching his every move, the 21 year old American streamer, born Darren Watkins Jr, turned his Ghana stop into one of the most talked about moments of his 20 country African tour.
Now Sarkodie says that impact goes beyond views.
Speaking in the United Kingdom, the Ghanaian rapper described the visit as a powerful shift in how Africa is seen globally.
He believes young audiences, especially those raised on negative stereotypes, witnessed a different version of the continent through Speed’s livestreams.
From large street crowds to cultural moments like receiving a traditional shea butter massage, the energy around the visit was visible in real time.
Ghana was the second to last stop before the tour ended on 25 January 2026.
Soon after, the country’s Foreign Affairs Minister approved a Ghanaian passport for the streamer, calling him a worthy ambassador.
For Sarkodie, that recognition reflects something bigger. Influence, when used intentionally, can reshape perception.
