Jackie Chandiru Opens Up About Mya Baganda’s Absence from Blu 3 Reunion Concert
In a recent interview with Sanyuka TV, Jackie Chandiru was asked why Mya Baganda, who replaced Cindy Sanyu in the girl group Blu 3, was not part of the Blu 3 Reunion Concert.
Jackie explained that Mya had a busy schedule at the time, with filming and other commitments that kept her occupied. The concert preparations required intense rehearsals, and they were racing against time.
She also clarified that the reunion concert was meant to celebrate the original Blu 3, marking a special return to the stage for the iconic trio.
Blu 3 was formed in the early 2000s by Ugandan producer Steve Jean, with Cindy Sanyu, Lillian Mbabazi, and Jackie Chandiru as its members.
The group quickly gained fame with vibrant performances and hits like “Ndibera Nawe” and “Sanyu Lyange.”
However, Cindy eventually left the group, and Mya Baganda replaced her, leading to a rebranding of the group as Blu3 (without the asterisk).
The new trio enjoyed some success, but over time, the members decided to pursue solo careers.
In a surprising turn, the original trio, Cindy, Lillian, and Jackie, performed together for the first time in many years on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the Protea Hotel Kampala Skyz in Naguru, Kampala.
Cindy revealed that the performance was a warm-up for the Blu 3 Reunion Concert, which took place on June 22, 2024, at the Sheraton Gardens in Kampala.
