Jacob Omutuuze Condemns Social Media Rumours Targeting Rema and Hamza
Over the weekend, whispers flooded social media claiming that songbird Rema Namakula and her husband Dr. Hamza Sebunya had called it quits.
While the couple has remained silent, entertainment critic DJ Jacob Omutuuze stepped in to slam the gossip culture fueling the storm.
If we start paying attention to what people say, we will be derailed. The good thing is, if Rema is happy and Hamza is happy, what people say does not hold weight.

Jacob told Tawfiq Media that social media has become an echo chamber for roadside gossip, where baseless talk is amplified until it feels like fact.
What people are saying are conversations had in bars, boda boda stages, and on the road. That is what social media has become. Percentage-wise, only 20% of what is said is always true and 80% is false. That is why lies spread much faster than the truth.
He cautioned that social media rumors can ruin relationships, especially if the partners lack thick skin.
If social media targets a couple that is faint-hearted, it may not leave them the same.
Jacob dismissed the Rema-Hamza chatter as nothing more than idle talk and warned that some people resent relationships that look too happy.
Those are just people’s words. People do not want a relationship as steady as Rema’s. When they see a relationship full of happiness, they start spreading rumors. But at the end of the day, what we have to do as human beings is to be well-wishers. Rema is human. Hamza is human. Love can exist, love can fade, but why would we celebrate so much when it fades?
To close, he urged people to resist hoping for the downfall of others and stressed the need for goodwill.
At the end of the day, we have to uphold humility because it is very important in our lives. If you refuse to practice humility, you may find yourself reaping what you wished upon others.
