Jaffar Jackson Brings The King Of Pop Back To Life in “Micheal”

Fans are losing it online after Lionsgate dropped the first trailer for Michael, the new Michael Jackson biopic starring his nephew, Jaafar Jackson. The 90-second teaser has the internet in a frenzy, with viewers saying Jaafar doesn’t just play MJ — he becomes him. From the moonwalk to the Smooth Criminal lean, every move is pure déjà vu, and voices everywhere are screaming, “Is this really him?”

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for Training Day, the film promises an unfiltered look at MJ’s life, from his Jackson 5 days to the heights of Thriller and Bad, and the personal struggles that made headlines. Fans are already raving online, with posts like “Jaafar’s moonwalk gave me chills in a taxi.”

The cast is stacked: Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Kat Graham as Diana Ross, and Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy. Even young Michael gets a perfect touch from nine-year-old Juliano Krue Valdi. Veteran photographer Kevin Mazur, who knew MJ for over 30 years, called Jaafar’s performance “unbelievable,” claiming it’s the first time since 2009 he’s felt that on-stage magic.

With a script by John Logan and full support from the Michael Jackson Estate, Michael hits cinemas April 24, 2026. Fans are already calling it the most authentic Jackson resurrection ever.
