James Bogere, The Ladies’ Choice
By Ronnie Musiimenta
Ugandan football history has taken a new turn after the Uganda Cubs U17 team stormed into the Round of 32 at the FIFA U17 World Cup, defeating France 1–0 in a gripping encounter. The decisive moment came in the 68th minute when 16-year-old James Bogere unleashed a stunning right-footed strike from outside the box, sealing Uganda’s victory and sparking celebrations across the country.
Bogere’s performance has not only earned him international recognition but also ignited talk of a major move to a Danish top-flight club. Sources close to the team suggest the deal could be transformative for the young star, who just a few years ago was playing barefoot on Kampala streets.
As word of his potential transfer spread, social media exploded with playful reactions. Many Ugandan ladies humorously called themselves “future girlfriends in waiting,” promising emotional support as he heads to Europe. One post read, “We just want to help him pack for Denmark.” Even NBS Sports’ Sera Yawe joined the banter on NextRadio’s Morning Switch, saying she only wanted his number “for morale.”
From football glory to social media stardom, James Bogere has become Uganda’s newest sensation — on and off the pitch.
