Jose Chameleone Cancels September 5 Concert to Support Fik Fameica

Jose Chameleone has officially confirmed that he will not proceed with his concert originally scheduled for September 5 at Kololo Independence Grounds.

The music icon explained that he chose to step back out of respect for fellow Ugandan artiste Fik Fameica, who had already set the same date for his own show at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

In a calm and direct statement, Chameleone addressed the questions that had been circulating about whether both concerts would go ahead on the same day.

He clarified that his love for music and his desire to see the growth of Ugandan talent are what guided his decision.

I just want to clarify and make it clear, my friends: I represent Ugandan music passionately. As the business is, you get paid for what you work for, and everyone has to earn from what they do. What matters most to me is the passion, because I love music a lot, and most especially, I love seeing Ugandan music moving forward.

Chameleone spoke with admiration about Fik Fameica, referring to him as a next-generation artiste and describing him as extremely talented.

He acknowledged that Fik likely chose his concert date after careful consideration, with no knowledge that it would later conflict with another major event.

Fik Fameica is a next-generation artiste. He is extremely talented. So, if I have a show at Kololo Independence Grounds and Fik Fameica has a show at Lugogo Cricket Oval, I look at that situation, and it makes me feel too greedy.

Chameleone emphasized that after many years of support from Ugandan fans, it was important to make space for younger talent.

He said the decision to cancel his own show was not easy, but necessary.

So I, as a person, decided to make a very big decision of removing mine because I do not want to be greedy.

He then directed his message to his loyal supporters, asking them to support Fik Fameica’s show instead.

To all my fans, I shall put my show on another date. After all, it will remain a show. So, all my fans, let us all support Fik Fameica on 5th September at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Chameleone’s remarks come just a day after Fik Fameica publicly addressed the situation, stating that he respects the veteran, but is not afraid of a concert clash.

Fik also made it clear that every artiste has their own audience, implying that there is no reason both events could not succeed.

Now, with Chameleone stepping aside, Fik Fameica will move forward without direct competition on that day.
