Jose Chameleone’s Marriage Officially Crumbles as Daniella Files for Divorce
By Lazarus Masaba
Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone is facing the end of his 17-year marriage after his wife Daniella Atim officially filed for divorce.
Daniella and Chameleone have been living apart for nearly six years.
She moved to the United States with their children around 2019, while the celebrated singer remained mostly in Uganda.
Chameleone, whose real name is Joseph Mayanja, is one of East Africa’s most influential stars with classics like “Mama Mia” and “Valu Valu.”
He married Daniella in 2008 in a Roman Catholic ceremony at St. James Catholic Parish in Kampala.
The couple built a home in Sseguku, Wakiso District, and went on to raise five children together: Abba Marcus, Alfa Joseph, Alba Shyne, Amma Christian, and Xara Amani.
Although their marriage appeared solid in the early years, rumors of infidelity and domestic troubles began to surface around 2017.
Not so long after, Daniella moved abroad with the children, saying she wanted a better life for the family.
Chameleone has claimed the move was a mutual decision and that they even bought a house together in the US.
Now Daniella is demanding full custody of the children, child support, alimony, ownership of the Sseguku home, and coverage of legal expenses.
Reports also suggest she may be preparing to remarry, making the final split from Chameleone even more urgent.
