Joshua Baraka Honors Late Father: “Everything I Am Today Is Because of the Sacrifices He Made”
Joshua Baraka has paid tribute to his late father, revealing that the man who dreamed of seeing him become a doctor ultimately supported his decision to pursue a career in music.
During a vigil held following his father’s passing on June 7, the singer reflected on the sacrifices that shaped his childhood and helped lay the foundation for his future.
Among his memories were the difficult periods when he, his brother, and their father shared a single bed.
Even in those moments, he said, his father never stopped pushing for a better life for his children and remained determined to give them access to a good education.
That determination came with a vision for Joshua’s future.
He wanted me to become a doctor. That was his dream for me. He made sacrifices because he believed that was the future that would secure my life.

Life, however, took Joshua in a different direction.
While his father imagined a career in medicine, the singer found himself drawn to music and eventually had to tell him that his plans had changed.
What followed left a lasting impression on him.
He did not take it badly. He listened to me, understood me, and supported me. He allowed me to chase my dream.

Joshua believes that support gave him the confidence to fully commit to music and pursue the career he enjoys today.
Years later, that encouragement remains one of the things he remembers most about his father.
Everything I am today is because of the sacrifices he made. He may be gone physically, but the lessons he taught me and the love he gave me will stay with me forever.
Family members, friends, and fans gathered on Tuesday, June 9, in Bugelele, Kitimbwa, Kayunga District, to pay their final respects as Joshua’s father was laid to rest.
