Kano Court Orders ‘TikTok Couple’ to Marry or Face Trouble
A Kano court has shocked Nigerians by ordering TikTok stars Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda to marry within 60 days.
The pair went viral after posting romantic videos online.
The Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board said the clips were indecent and broke the state’s moral rules.
On Monday, October 20, Magistrate Halima Wali told the Hisbah Board to arrange the wedding.
She warned that failing to do so would be treated as contempt of court.
Both creators had been charged with sharing obscene content.
Mai Wushirya was even sent to a correctional facility after the videos spread widely.
The ruling has sparked strong reactions, with many people stunned that a court would use marriage as punishment.
