Kapeke Claims International Status After London Performance

Fresh from shutting down London, Ugandan singer Kapeke has made it known that he is not in the business of chasing collaborations.

This declaration came during a chat on Poko Poko, where he was asked whether he used his time in the United Kingdom to connect with British artistes or secure international features.

Kapeke explained that collaborations do not simply happen just because someone has landed abroad.

You have to first get in touch with them. You do not just come from nowhere and you want a collabo. It is planned. You first make programs with them.

The hosts pushed back, pointing out that overseas performances are usually booked months earlier.

That meant Kapeke had time to alert producers and musicians in London before travelling.

With proper planning, they suggested, he could have secured studio sessions or features.

But the “Kaba” hitmaker stood his ground.

I am not looking for collabos from people who are not interested. I only do collabos with people who are interested in my stuff.

He also dismissed suggestions that he should be focusing on breaking into the international market, insisting he is already there.

I am already international. I am from London. What do you mean?
