Artistes I Looked Up to No Longer Inspire Me — Kapeke

Ugandan singer Kapeke has opened up about his musical journey, saying the artistes who once inspired him are no longer the same.

Speaking on Rewind, the “Kaba” hitmaker said many of them have either stepped away from music or are no longer as active as before.

He noted that among those he looked up to, only Sheebah Karungi still stands out as active in the industry.

Kapeke said it was heartbreaking to see them slow down or give up, especially given the high regard in which he held them.

He added that while some of them may still be releasing music, it no longer reaches him the way it used to.

The musicians who used to inspire me no longer do. They no longer sing. Maybe Sheebah is the only one who still sings. Here in Uganda, she is the only musician among those who inspired me that is still active. I am talking about when I was still young, around the time she released ‘Ice Cream.’ My inspirations gave up on their music, yet I held them in high regard, so they broke my heart. Or maybe they still sing, and it is just that their newer releases do not reach me.

Kapeke now focuses on his own path in the industry.
