Kapeke Talks Global Stars: Davido Will Not Get a Collab… Or Will He?
Ugandan new school sensation Kapeke is turning into one of the most talked about young stars in the country, thanks to his stream of catchy hits and eye grabbing collaborations with local heavyweights like Fik Fameica, Rickman, and Karole Kasita.
His songs are everywhere, and so is the curiosity about when he will finally break into the international scene.
During his interview with Rewind, Kapeke addressed the question head on, making it clear that he is not in a rush and is trusting his rise to unfold naturally.
I think I have just not yet reached. What I know is everything happens at the right time. So you never know who I will work with next, but what I know is that they will come because why not.
Kapeke revealed that he is ready to collaborate with any global act who is currently shaking up the charts, and he even threw in a cheeky moment that left the room laughing.
Whoever comes, as long as they are making waves right now. There are foreign musicians I cannot give collaborations, like the likes of Davido… I am joking.
He went on to stress how much international collaborations can elevate an artist who is ready to take that leap.
International collaborations are very impactful because they take you from one level to another.
Still, not every offer fits the direction he is going.
Kapeke shared that he has already turned down some approaches from foreign acts whose careers no longer match the energy he wants around his music.
They are there, but they do not meet the standard, and I also despise them. They cannot add anything to me. They are no longer making waves. I cannot work with someone who is not making waves right now just because they used to.
