Karole Kasita Ditches Christmas Gigs Forever, Here’s Why

Ugandan dancehall star Karole Kasita has shown that even top artistes value family over money.

Despite being one of the most booked female artistes in Uganda, she skipped all performances this Christmas.

During a sit-down with Flexx, Kasita said that no amount of money is worth missing precious time with her loved ones on December 25.

I did not work on Christmas. I did not do any Christmas shows because no amount of money is worth that day. I gave that day to myself to rest and be with my family, because I spent the whole of November and December running around. On Christmas, I just wanted to be at home with my child.

Some might assume that her absence was due to a lack of bookings, but according to her, that was not the case.

In fact, she said no to every Christmas gig, including the high paying ones.

I refused Christmas bookings. People called, and I told them I was not available. I told them I was already booked, even when I was not. I just did not want to work on Christmas.

Kasita revealed that this is set to become a yearly tradition.

Christmas, for her, is now strictly for rest, family, and a break from the stage.

It will be a family day forever. It gave me peace. I tried it and saw how relaxing it is. Imagine enjoying Christmas food and then getting dressed to go perform… It feels so good to be with your family without any plans of going anywhere.
