Kayemba Ssolo Clarifies Manager Share in Copyright Earnings
Hon. Solomon Kayemba has weighed in on how managers and artistes share copyright earnings.
The Bukomansimbi South MP, who also manages Rema Namakula, said everything depends on the agreement between both sides.
He explained that managers earn from copyright based on what they agree with artistes, not a fixed rule.
His comments come as the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights (Amendment) Bill, 2025, awaits presidential assent after Parliament passed it on March 17.
Kayemba also spoke about the fallout between David Lutalo and his former manager Nasser, urging them to resolve their issues calmly.
These are people who have been working together, so it is important for them to handle their issues peacefully and come to a mutual understanding.
His message adds to the growing conversation in the industry as players adjust to the new law.
