Kenzo Announces Intent to Step Down as UNMF President

Ugandan singer and Uganda National Musicians Federation president Eddy Kenzo has revealed he plans to resign from his leadership role once he returns from Acholi.

Kenzo spoke out in an emotional message, hitting out at the never-ending divisions and squabbles that have rocked the country’s music scene.

As a person, I cannot continue with this disorganization because these music fights will never stop. They are sponsored and backed up by our leaders. When I come back from Acholi, I will officially resign from music leadership.

The “Sitya Loss” star said his decision comes after repeated attempts to bring the industry together were derailed by political meddling and personal rivalries.

He added that it is time for fresh leadership, saying he has done his part and now wants peace of mind.

They should find another person to continue with this. I have done my best, but as a person, I cannot manage anymore.

If it goes through, Kenzo’s resignation will end his tenure as the first president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, the body set up to unite artists nationwide and give them a stronger collective voice.
