Kenzo Pushes Government to Extend Concert Curfew to 2 AM

Fans and musicians might soon get more time to enjoy concerts, if Eddy Kenzo gets his way.

The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president is leading talks to extend the current midnight curfew for concerts to at least 2 am.

The current rule, introduced a few years ago, forces all music events to end by 12 am.

Kenzo says this restriction cheats both performers and audiences.

A major issue we are discussing with the government is extending performance time from midnight to at least 2 am. Fans often arrive late because of traffic and other unavoidable delays. When they turn up between 8 pm and 10 pm, artistes end up with barely two hours to perform. Adding two more hours would make a big difference.

Kenzo, who also heads Big Talent Entertainment, stressed that a later curfew would benefit everyone.

For artistes, it means enough time to deliver full performances.

For fans, it means more value for their money and better nights out.
