Kenzo Says Musicians Associations Received Shs 110 Million Each
Eddy Kenzo, president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has revealed that several musicians’ associations have received Shs 110 million each in government support.
Addressing the media, Kenzo said the funding was provided directly by the government to support artists across the country.
However, he admitted the initiative did not receive support from every musician.
Some artistes criticized the move, while others initially rejected the money.
According to Kenzo, some of those same artists later returned and accepted the funds.
He also revealed that the federation’s SACCO is steadily growing.
Kenzo said savings in the SACCO have already reached about Shs 200 million, a sign that the initiative is beginning to support musicians financially.
