Kibijigiri Reflects on the Difficulties of Making a Living Through Music Today
A man who humorously comments on his own appearance, Kadongo Kamu artist Kajubi Kibijigiri has made a significant impact in the music industry.
He noted that the music industry today is much more competitive than it was in the past. Despite this, he believes that competition is important for growth.
Kibijigiri discussed the impact of technology on making a living from music, stating that it is difficult to earn money today.
He explained that with digital platforms, tracking music is challenging because it spreads quickly across many channels. This ease of sharing songs online often results in artists losing control over their work.
He also mentioned that in the past, songs were released on tapes. Since there was no technology to make copies, people had to purchase the tapes.
Additionally, music was reviewed by committees back then, but this practice is no longer common.
Kibijigiri also shared his thoughts on his career, discussing both the successes and challenges he has faced.
He highlighted that through his music, he has built many friendships and gained a large fan base, which he considers major accomplishments.
He also values the extensive travel opportunities that his career has provided.
Lastly, despite these successes, Kibijigiri faces some challenges. With only about 100 days of rest each year, he finds it difficult to spend enough time with his children.
