Kin Bella Reflects on Her Childhood: “Music Was My Escape”

Kin Bella is proving that passion can blossom even in the toughest circumstances.

The ‘Tonesipata’ singer says music has always been her refuge, even in her childhood.

Raised by a single father, she often stayed with others when he was busy with work, and whenever those caretakers annoyed her, she turned to music for comfort.

I was raised by a single dad, so I was under the care of many different people when he was working. But whenever they mistreated me and stuff like that, I used to resort to music. I simply loved it.

Kin Bella also shared that she would ask her father for permission to enter singing competitions, despite his reluctance.

I used to ask my dad for permission to compete in singing competitions, but he would refuse because he had a negative perception of music, like some people do.

While some people believe music comes with many challenges and obstacles, she believes the same is true for any other career path or business.

I also felt that all businesses are the same. The struggles you see in one are the same struggles you will see in another. Be it witchcraft or envy, they are all the same, even in small businesses. So if you want something, I feel like you should just go for it. Challenges exist in everything. Even in an office setting, someone will ask for something in order to give you the job. It is the same thing.

Speaking about her education, Kin Bella told Rewind that financial constraints affected her academic path.

As for education, I stopped in Senior Six. I tried university, but I did not have money, so I could not go far.
