Knockout King of Comedy Reggie Carroll Tragically Gunned Down
The comedy world is in shock after the tragic death of Reggie Carroll, the “Knockout King of Comedy,” who was killed at just 52.
Carroll was shot in Southaven, Mississippi, on August 20, 2025.
Police say they found him on Burton Lane with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite desperate efforts to save him, he died at the scene.
A male suspect has been arrested and charged with murder, though investigators have not revealed a motive or the suspect’s identity.
Born in Baltimore, Carroll spent decades making audiences laugh across the country.
He performed on some of the biggest stages, appeared on Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers, and in 2023 produced the stand-up special Knockout Kings of Comedy.
With more than 162,000 Instagram followers, Carroll had become a beloved figure both on stage and online.
The outpouring of grief has been immediate.
Oscar winning actress Mo’Nique, who toured with Carroll, called him her “brother in comedy” and remembered their bond with love.
Baltimore’s Mobtown Comedy Club paid tribute as well, describing Carroll as one of the city’s finest comedic voices.
Carroll’s brother Jonathan thanked fans and fellow comedians for their support and condolences, asking for privacy as the family grieves.
