Konga Claims Burna Boy Sampled His Work Without Permission

Konga is demanding 60 per cent of the earnings from Burna Boy’s song Update, saying the track sampled his work without permission.

The veteran singer said Burna Boy ignored him, even after he publicly raised the issue months ago.

He made the demand during an appearance on the Hits Don’t Lie podcast, where he compared his situation to Toni Braxton’s deal on “Last Last.”

According to Konga, Burna Boy had no issue giving Braxton 60 per cent after sampling her song, so he should do the same.

If Toni Braxton is having 60% royalty of Last Last, why can’t he do the same thing to come and meet me first, talk to me?

He also claimed this is not the first time, saying Burna Boy previously used his lyrics in the remix of “Sungba” with Asake.

Konga added that he had asked Burna Boy to remix his song “Kabakaba,” but received no response.

He said he has held back legal action out of respect, but warned that he may now sample Burna Boy’s work without permission.
