Lawsuit Against Tyla Over ‘Water’ Falls Apart
South African singer Tyla is officially out of the legal battle over her 2023 hit, Water, after the case against her quietly fell apart.
Two composers linked to the song, Olmo Zucca and Jackson LoMastro, voluntarily withdrew their lawsuit on February 5, ending all claims against the star.
The pair had accused Tyla of excluding them from master recording points, which would have entitled them to recording royalties in addition to publishing credits.
The case had started to unravel months earlier when Sony Music Entertainment was dropped as a defendant in November, leaving Water producer Sammy SoSo as the only remaining party still facing legal action.
According to a source familiar with the matter, neither Tyla nor Sony paid a settlement.
The claims were abandoned after it became clear they had no legal standing, with insiders describing them as baseless.
