“Let Us Stop Glamourizing Substances,” Judith Heard Calls for Action on Drug Addiction as Geosteady Battles for Recovery

City socialite Judith Heard has spoken out about singer Geosteady’s battle with drug addiction, urging the public to acknowledge the toll substance abuse takes on families and loved ones.

On April 1st, Minaj Maraj, a mother to one of Geosteady’s children, took to Instagram to wish him a happy birthday.

Along with her message, she encouraged him by saying, “Situka Tutambule (Get up and we move),” hinting at his prolonged absence from the music scene before adding, “Your fans miss your vocals.”

Reports from late October 2024 suggested that the singer had been checked into a rehabilitation center due to drug addiction, prompting those close to him to intervene and seek professional help.

Reacting to Minaj Maraj’s post, Judith Heard took to her X account to express her thoughts on the matter, describing the pain families go through when a loved one battles addiction.

She acknowledged Geosteady’s musical talent and the impact he had on many fans, including herself.

“This man Hassan (Geosteady) was one of my favorite artists in Uganda. His voice, his gift, his presence meant so much to many of us,” she wrote.

She urged society to stop glamorizing substance abuse and instead focus on helping those who need support.

“Let us stop watching people spiral in silence. Let us start doing the real work of saving the next generation with truth, love, and accountability,” she added.

She concluded her message with words of encouragement for Geosteady, reminding him that people are still rooting for his recovery.

While there have been no official updates on his progress, the hope remains that he will overcome this challenge and make a strong return to music.
