Liam Neeson Ready to Step Away from Action Roles at Age 73
Liam Neeson, who has built a solid reputation as an action star over the past twenty years, is now considering retiring from high-intensity roles as he reaches 73 years old.
In a recent interview, the Irish actor reflected on how much time has passed since his breakout action role in *Taken*, which came out 18 years ago when he was 54.
He explained that getting older has made performing demanding fight scenes much harder.
Neeson said he no longer wants to film action sequences where stunt doubles do most of the work, as he prefers to be authentic in his roles.
However, he acknowledged that continuing to do such scenes while visibly older would feel wrong to him.
Although he is hesitant to fully commit to more action films, Neeson left the door open to future projects.
He said there might be another action role for him down the line, but nothing has been officially planned yet.
Neeson rose to fame in the action genre after “Taken” became a hit in 2008.
The film’s success led to two sequels released in 2012 and 2015.
Following those, he starred in numerous other action thrillers, including “The A-Team” (2010), “The Grey” and “Unknown” (2011), “Wrath of the Titans” (2012), “A Walk Among the Tombstones” and “Non-Stop” (2014), “Run All Night” (2015), “The Commuter” (2018), “Cold Pursuit” (2019), and “The Ice Road” (2021).
After years of performing his own stunts and intense fight scenes, Neeson’s focus now seems to be shifting toward roles that better fit his age and physical abilities.
