Local Success Is No Longer a Must for Global Music Stardom, Says Selecta Jeff

Many in the music industry have long believed that an artiste must first conquer their local scene before stepping onto the world stage.

But according to Ugandan DJ and music tastemaker Selecta Jeff, that mindset is outdated.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Jeff pushed back on the idea that local dominance is a must for international success.

That mentality of ‘you cannot make it internationally unless you make it big at home’ was valid back in the day. But in this social media era, everything is possible. Just make good music, push it osilike.

While he acknowledged that having support from one’s home country can be beneficial, Jeff made it clear that it is no longer a strict requirement.

You do need the home support though. But you can also make it anywhere with or without it.
